| THEATRE The theatre of Adrian Hornsby is characterised by a musical use of language and vivid scenes interwoven with vast interior landscapes. Moods range from surreptitiously funny to bleakly beautiful. Lines of dialogue are often folded over each other or arranged in counterpoint, like instruments within a string quartet (see). The frequent use of film elements creates further visual layers. Plays by Adrian Hornsby have been produced on stage in Paris, London and Amsterdam, and on radio in London and New York. A.M., a piece of contemporary music theatre written with composer-director Arnoud Noordegraaf, premiered at the Holland Festival 2011 (currently on tour). The opera As Big As The Sky is in development. |
